Canon Powershot S90 -- 28 mm - 1/400 s - f 4.0 - ISO 80
Yesterday morning, I saw someone scrubbing off the ice from the windshield of his car. At first, I sort of felt what can only be described as Schadenfreude - obviously, I don't have that problem without a car. Later I realized that the person probably thought exactly the same about me driving to university by bike at such temperatures :)
All it means is that soon, the autumn photos will stop, probably, and then (hopefully) snowy, leafless photos will appear. Until then: everyone enjoy the colors while you can!

Canon Powershot S90 -- 28 mm - 1/125 s - f 2.0 - ISO 80
This photo has one detail in it that I only learned about after taking this photo: cats are quicker than they seem, and so a higher ISO setting is a good idea, even with seemingly good light. As you can see, 1/125 seconds being quite a short time already, the cat's right foot is still in movement, which ideally wouldn't be the case.

Either way, the cat is dead now and getting any cat to walk towards me through the light like that to reproduce such a photo is a near-impossibility, so I'll just have to satisfy myself with this. To be honest, I easily can :)

Canon Powershot S90 -- 35 mm - 1/1250 s - f 2.8 - ISO 80
Going away for a trip with other physics students for the weekend - likely to be back with more photos.
The pictures since Tuesday and today's picture (which, you may have noticed, is still the same yellow tree as Tuesday's) were all taken this weekend in my home town.

Canon Powershot S90 -- 28 mm - 1/50 s - f 4.5 - ISO 80
This just stood around in front of the house that my apartment is at. I don't think people realize just how beautiful the world is that we live in :)

This one was taken on a walk to the university. I guess I did take a different way to the university on this day, but the most important thing to do if you want to take good photos (and possibly many of them) is to take your camera with you everywhere. I mean, absolutely everywhere. That's what I do :)

Canon Powershot S90 -- 28 mm - 1/25 s - f 2.0 - ISO 80
This week's photos will all be photos that were taken very recently. Although today's photo can almost be called from the archives, since it was taken last Sunday. All next four photos will be from Friday, Friday, Sunday and Sunday, though.

The result of around one hour of work: taking apart a defective Canon Ixus 30.

I guess this counts as one of those "artsy" pictures. In this case, a projector showing a blue test screen with the protecting glass in front of it.

As ever so often, taking this picture was accompanied by people glaring at me. You get used to that ;)

I was asked why this blog is called "Taking a break". Well, it's simple: I couldn't come up with anything better. The first thing my brain could come up with was this and so that's it now.

But I think it reflects the philosophy or aim of this blog quite nicely: for me, photography is something I love doing and that makes me forget about worrisome things. It makes me relax and I thoroughly enjoy each and every part of the process. For the people who follow this blog (however few there may be), I want this blog and the photos in particular to be something they can look at and simply enjoy. And I want this moment to be a second or a minute of complete rest in which the observer can forget about the worries of the day as well.

Also: I enabled anonymous comments to make it easier for everyone to comment :)
